Trio "Saint Tropez"

In TRIO SAINT TROPEZ, violinist Julia Czerniawska, baritone saxophonist Almut Schlichting and double bassist Sven Hinse immerse themselves in the world of French jazz and swing - from Django Reinhardt to Boris Vian. Collage-like, surrealistically mixed with faux Latin grooves, noise improvisations and chamber music miniatures, the result is a multicultural melting pot between Paris, New York and Berlin.

This project was commissioned as part of the Berlin concert series "Zugabe!!! Django Reinhardt and French Jazz", sponsored by the Berlin Senate. After the first successful performance, the three musicians were so enthusiastic about the possibilities of the line-up and the repertoire that it became a "working band". Since then, they have been exploring the possibilities of this unusual trio in rehearsals and concerts - full of ideas, wit and virtuosity.
