Wustrow Christmas Market

Far from the hustle and bustle of big cities, Christmas in Wustrow enchants visitors with its festive atmosphere, Christmas scents and deep-seated traditions. The Wustrow Christmas Market in early December is a traditional advent celebration with speciality foods (don‘t miss the mulled wine), a raffle, seasonal arts and crafts, and plenty to marvel at for the young and young at heart.

The Christmas market takes place on the square around the old oak tree in the centre of town. Residents take great care to create an enchanting, festive atmosphere by elaborately decorating the stalls and installing fairy lights.

The market begins with a Christmas sing-along for children. Afterwards, there are ponies and carousels to ride and colourful decorations to admire. Then, Father Christmas arrives on the square with his angels and the town’s children all crowd in closely. Each child wants to be first to receive a present from Santa‘s bag – some are even brave enough to recite a poem or sing a short song.

Ornately decorated market stalls offer mulled wine, punch, waffles, gingerbread, candied apples and other Christmas season specialities.
